AUTHENTICATE THIS!

If you are a victim of the Authenticate This group of idiots operating out of the Purse Forum please send us a message (you can contact us through the "Comment" link and we will not publish it, but will contact you privately). These ditz bags are possibly acting illegally. They are not Experts, and have no right authenticating anything (well, perhaps they could athenticate a peanut butter sandwich). They are having an impact on honest sellers and at the same time giving incorrect information to buyers.

the Purse Forum or The Liars Forum?

Hello... (again) here is another from the archives of The Purveyors of Fakes. It shows the kind of people on this forum - sick little people with nothing to do but cause problems for honest folks on eBay.

Lovely64 on TPF exposed as a neurotic liar*.

Lovely64 wrote on : Feb 10th, 2010, 05:19 AM

I am extremely upset and disappointed with Jane from Janefinds. I bought something from her and paid on the 28th. Before I paid I shared my concernes that it may not arrive intime for me leaving on a trip on the 12th of February. She then emailed me back saying that she was shipping it FedEx with signature confirmation so I would have it within 3-4 days.

I then went ahead and paid her. She emailed me back saying "got it, will ship FedEx, you will have it soon". After one or two days I emailed asking for the tracking number so I could arrange for someone to be here and collect it at the door. She gave me a number for PRIORITY MAIL! She didn´t ship FedEx, nor did she ship express!!! She didn´t even ship it on the 28th or 29th like she said but on the 1st of February!

Nedless to say, the package has not entered Sweden yet. I just phoned the Swedish PO and they said that even if it arrives today there is absolutely no chance I will have it by tomorrow. I will be leaving at 4.30 am Friday the 12th.

Sorry about the rant but I am soooooooooo annoyed. I needed it in time for my trip and she was fully aware of that. She promised FedEx or I wouldn´t have bought it!

I have requested a refund but I´m waiting for her reply. The problem is that even if I wanted the item I won´t be here to pick it up and it will automatically be sent back to her! Promising FedEx just to make a sale and then turning around shipping Priority to Sweden is below cheap! I didn´t even get an opportunity to call off the sale or have a say in the matter. She just went ahead and shipped using the cheapest way. The purchase wasn´t mega expencive but $1500 isn´t exactly lose change either! Such a shame, I´m irritaded beyond words.

I am glad you didn´t end up buying from her christymarie, and thanks for your kind words. I won´t buy form her again either! Customer service is vital to a business. Even I stretch whatever means possible to make my buyers happy when I´m selling on ebay, and I´m not a business.

Firstly, when an international buyer is advised that the safest way to ship from the USA and ensure on time delivery is by using FedEx (the only service I use), and then refuses to pay $89 because it's "too expensive and FedEx always hits me with customs", then it's quite ironic to blame the seller on a public forum. Secondly, you did not purchase an Hermes Bag, you purchased a Roberto Cavalli jacket. In fact you didn't even want to pay for shipping at all and I ended having supplement your shipping cost! I've been doing this for a long time, in shipping like anything else you get what you pay for.

Lastly, it's appalling that you are posting a flat out lie that I shipped the cheapest way possible, when I simply did what you asked. If you changed your mind, that's one thing, but please don't use this forum as a way to create false sympathy from users that only hear one side of the story. To ad insult to injury you immediately contact PayPal and I get a charge back. I don't have the coat and I don't have the money. Well done.

I have many longstanding international clients, all extremely satisfied with my product and my communication.

*It should be noted that Lovely64 is not the only neurotic liar who posts on the Purse Forum. Other members whom have been called out for lying include: flossyfigaro, gigi123, gracekelly, 24 faubourg, lovehermes, etc etc. The list is endless and best left for another post.

the Purse Forum: Before and After

A Classic Example of what is wrong with the Purse Forum.

My friend got a mid six-figure advance for his book....and was a first time writer. And since then he sold the manuscript to 9 foreign publishers, each in a separate deal; and on top of that his book has been optioned by a major Producer to be made into a movie. His book's title is Bringing_ Home- The , Birkin. I don't suggest taking any of the advice you read here too literally. (Just like the advice given out by the Handbag Authenticators).

Now, you might say there is nothing wrong with this, perhaps the Moderator felt that publishingguru was saying something unacceptable. But how would you like it if you posted:

"I do NOT like Rebecca Minkoff handbags"

and then a Moderator came in an edited your post to:

"I like Rebecca Minkoff handbags"

Therein lies the fundamental problem with the Purse Forum. Plain and Simple!
(Hey, what can you expect from a guy that titles his photo of animal cookies, "Zoology", and includes a dinosaur. Moron.)

tPF "Authenticators" don't seem to know a sock from a shoe....

I do not know why people keep sending bags to be authenticated on the purse forum sometimes, but this week the TPF bitches came together to admit that they really cannot tell a fake bag to a real one… its all down to the old chest nut of “provenance” –

Provenance -from the French provenir, "to come from", means the origin, or the source of something, or the history of the ownership or location of an object. The term was originally mostly used for works of art, but, on tpf, it really means:
1. Is it one of us selling it?
2. Is it one of the sponsors of TPF selling it?
3. Is it one of the well known sellers on eBay whose friends are on tpf…
All fucking rubbish really, but here they are:

From Mistikat
Is this private sale from a reseller, a consignment shop, a web site? , an online ad? Please provide more details as to the provenance of the bag.

From Mistikat
I'm not sure who your private seller is but most of these pictures come from Luxury Zurich. The blindstamp pictures were taken from elsewhere. These are stolen pictures and your seller cannot have this bag in their possession, unless they ARE Luxury Zurich. This is exactly why we like to know the details of a "private sale".

From Perigord
Agreed "Private sale" can mean anything. When nothing at all is known about the provenance or the source of a bag, authenticators are left to wonder whether this is from a decent source...a creep on a street corner...or, rarely, an actual seller knowingly bringing a fake to the forum to see if it will pass muster on the internet...
It helps the authenticators help you by asking for details about where the bags come from. With Mistikat's great eyes, she was able to ID the actual source of the images. If there is a disconnect--as in this case--you know the news is bad.
Knowing the context of the sale is really critical. Without context, any authentication can never really be complete.

And another interesting read from the archives:

BostonSkygirl18; Oct 31st, 2009, 12:53 PM

Ladies of the Purse Forum and in particular Grace Kelly – Let me say two things right off the bat: (1) I am the owner of the 35cm Etoupe Birkin that Sydspy posted for authentication, and that Grace Kelly so ungraciously indicated was not real; and (2) I am an attorney living and practicing in the Boston area. In my profession I live and die by my ethics and reputation.

I love the Hermes brand and I have been loyal to it. I buy and use nothing fake. If I cannot buy the real thing, I wait and I save for the day that I can. I work damned hard to afford my Hermes bags. I personally purchased the Etoupe Birkin at the Boston Hermes store on May 12, 2008 for $8,300 from a Sales Associate that I have purchased no fewer than 10 bags from (including two other Birkins). I am known by all of the Sale Associates in the Boston store and I have certainly carried the bag into the store on numerous occasions. The bag was specially ordered for me by the Sales Associate and was still in shrink-wrap when she brought it out to me for inspection. I don’t know what else could make the bag more real.

That a person would so unceremoniously classify another person’s property as being fake is appalling. Hermes bags are mythic in their quality and status and are thus, by definition, prone to being copied. We all know that. There are plenty of unscrupulous people out there looking to make a quick buck from the uninformed. I for one have always appreciated the fact that I could turn to the “Authentic This Hermes Bag” thread to see if I bag I was interested in on Ebay or from a consigner’s website was real or not. However, now that I am on the other side of the denouncement, I am not quite so appreciative, or happy. At the end of the day, whether I sell my Etoupe Birkin does not matter. There are fates worse than owning another Birkin bag. But, what I cannot stand for is the doubt that has circled around ***.

As an aside, were we not as a community admonished to read Jag’s thread of October 22, 2009 about civility. The Purse Forum is supposed to be a fun place to go to learn, communicate and yes ogle other people’s pretty handbags. This was not supposed to be a place were nameless, faceless people get to cyber-bully and ruin hard won reputations. If you have not read Jag’s thread, I implore you to do so. G—save us all from purported experts. I for one feel a little bit like Alice in Wonderland who fell down that rabbit hole.

With respect,
BostonSkygirl18, Esq.
